Internet Connectivity Improvement
Ten years ago, we didn’t have 4G, but fortunately, internet connectivity has improved over the last decade.
It’s not perfect, but you can manage.
Choosing a SIM or eSIM?
If you consume less than 1GB of data per day for a 3-day trip:
- The best option for you is the third plan from Airalo (the most popular eSIM provider) for $20.50.
- You can use the hotel or riad Wi-Fi to reduce data consumption.
If you consume more than 1GB of data per day:
- The best choice is the last plan from Airalo with unlimited data for $35.
Are There Cheaper Options?
Yes, you can purchase a SIM card from an official service provider store.
There are three telecom companies in Morocco:
1. Inwi: The best in terms of internet quality.
2. Orange: Close in quality to Inwi.
3. Maroc Telecom: I do not recommend this one.
After purchasing a SIM card (e.g., Inwi), you will find 2GB as a gift.
You can recharge it after the 2GB expires for $2 per additional 2GB, which you can purchase at any grocery store or from the official website.
Tip: Buy scratch-off top-up cards to use later.
You can find the SIM card at the airport, but it will be a bit more expensive. You'll pay around $10 for a 10GB card.
Alternatively, you can visit an official provider's store for better prices.
Summary
Choosing the right card may not be of great importance, especially since Wi-Fi is available everywhere.
The internet speed may not be perfect, but it is sufficient.
If you want a SIM or eSIM, I recommend buying a SIM card at the airport or an eSIM from Airalo.
